日進木工の家具づくりは、機械加工と職人の手加工、伝統的な工法のベストミックスによって行われています。機械加工といっても木材の切削が主な内容。たとえ同じ木から製材したパーツでもそれぞれに個性があるため、どの工程においても熟練した技と知識が必要とされます。
CHORUSは日進木工の家具の中でも、職人の手仕事による工程が多いシリーズ。例えば椅子のアームから後脚にかけてのラインひとつをとっても、惜しみなく手間暇を注いでいます。機械で荒加工をした後、サンドペーパーなどを使い、職人がすべて手作業で仕上げていく。他にも、随所に用いられた高度な曲げ木技術、中央に膨らみをもつ4本の脚、3次元曲面の背板、丁寧な磨きなど、こだわった点は枚挙にいとまがありません。CHORUSは職人が培ってきた手の感覚を頼りに、生み出されているのです。
